“ This is our first year using History Alive! Ancient Civilizations and the Bible by Diana Waring for our history studies, and we love it! My absolute favorite aspect is that she very completely covers all of the learning styles to help kids not just learn, but to absorb history.

We have been using History Alive for just over 3 years (I think). It took us two years to get through Ancient Civ because there is so much Good stuff in there. We are now working through RRR and planned to take two years for that as well. Even if you wanted to start with the middle ages, you could still buy the CD's for AC and listen to them. Your kids might be inspired to go back and start from the beginning. You could always skimp on the Egypt section, there is certainly a lot more in the curriculum than just Egypt.
The CD's are filled with interesting stories and information which educates not only the kids but adults. Starting from the beginning gives a solid framework for understanding the later material. We have listened to the audios over and over. I still get all choked up when Diana gets to the bit about when Jesus comes in the 'fullness of time'. That section of the talk is SO powerful, every time we play it you feel this beautiful sense of the tangible presence of God. I have actually had to stop it once when I was driving to teach art to our HS group. I was so emotional that I had to take some time to pull myself together and also concentrate on the road. This curriculum isn't just a history course, it is really unique.
