“My curriculum shopping experiences—you know, combing through homeschool catalogs trying to decipher, amid all of the advertising copy, some fragment of understanding as to whether the particular title being described would, in fact, be of sufficient benefit to my children as to warrant paying the price—usually left me frustrated. After all, didn’t every description I read sound as if it were God’s greatest gift to the homeschooling mom? Yet, despite the eagerness with which we anticipated the arrival of this phenomenal wisdom-in-a-book or curriculum-in-a-box, we were often gravely disillusioned and disappointed with the actual product. Advertising copy and true reality are seldom the same thing!

“So, in our attempt to give you, Dear Reader, as true a picture as possible of both our products and our underlying philosophy of education and family, we have created a different kind of catalog—out of our desire to begin a sort of dialogue between us. Whether you are merely contemplating this homeschooling path or are a fellow traveler of many years, we want to serve you by sharing what the twenty-two years on our own homeschooling journey, as well as the thousands of homeschoolers we’ve learned from across international borders, have taught us. If, at the end of our dialogue, you walk away with a greater understanding of God’s wondrous design in your children and family, then our first purpose will be served. In addition, if our dialogue awakens within you a hunger to follow our pathway in this journey, we welcome you to use the materials we have developed which can assist you in releasing your children to God’s grand design for their lives. (Ephesians 2:10.)”
